You do not have to be in crisis to call. Most people who call are just uneasy about their own habits, and that is exactly the right time.

What we are, and what that means for you

AIBets publishes sports predictions and operator reviews. We do not accept bets and we do not hold your money. But we send traffic to operators, we are paid when you sign up with them, and we are not going to pretend that puts us outside this conversation.

So, plainly:

  • No prediction is a guarantee. Our model estimates probabilities. It does not know results. A pick with a high confidence score can lose, and some of them will.
  • Betting is entertainment, not income. It is not a way to earn a living, clear a debt, or dig out of a hole. Over time, most people who bet lose money. That is how the business works.
  • Anyone promising sure wins is not being honest with you โ€” including anyone claiming to sell our tips, or claiming to be us.
  • We publish our losing selections alongside our winning ones, so you can judge the record honestly rather than on the strength of the ones we would prefer to show you.

Signs worth paying attention to

Problem gambling rarely announces itself. It shows up as small changes:

  • Betting more than you planned, or more often than you planned
  • Chasing losses โ€” betting to win back money you have already lost
  • Betting money meant for rent, food, school fees or debt
  • Borrowing to bet, or selling things to bet
  • Hiding how much you bet from people close to you
  • Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down
  • Gambling to escape stress, boredom, anxiety or low mood
  • Arguments at home about money or about gambling
  • Relief when you bet, and shame afterwards

One or two of these is a reason to pause. Several is a reason to call the number at the top of this page.

The NRGP also offers free counselling to family members. If the person you are worried about is not you, that call is still for you.

Practical things that help

Set limits before you start, not during. Decide the amount and the time before you open the app. A limit you set while losing is not a limit.

Use the operator's own tools. Every licensed South African operator must offer these โ€” deposit limits, loss limits, session time limits, reality-check reminders, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion. They are usually under "Responsible Gambling" or "Account Limits" in the operator's settings. Use them. They work better than willpower because they work when willpower does not.

Self-exclusion. You can ask to be excluded from gambling with a specific operator, or apply for entry on the national exclusions register maintained under the National Gambling Act, which applies across licensed operators. Ask your operator, contact your provincial gambling board, or contact the National Gambling Board.

Never bet money you need for something else. If losing the stake would change your week, the stake is too big.

Do not bet to fix a mood. Betting to escape stress or sadness is the single most reliable route into trouble.

Take real breaks. Not a break until the next match โ€” a week, a month.

Blocking software

If you want gambling sites blocked on your devices, tools such as Gamban, BetBlocker and GamBlock do this. BetBlocker is free.

Protecting minors

The legal gambling age in South Africa is 18. If you share a device with someone under 18, parental control software such as Net Nanny or Qustodio can block gambling content.

We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to register. If you believe a minor holds an account with us, email [email protected] and we will close it.

Bet responsibly

Winners know when to stop. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.

No person under the age of 18 may gamble. AIBets does not accept bets and does not provide any betting service to anyone under 18.

No prediction is a guarantee. The model estimates probabilities โ€” it does not know results. A 76% tip loses roughly one time in four, and anyone promising sure wins is not being honest with you. We publish every prediction with its outcome, including the losing ones, so you can judge the record yourself.

You can also apply to be self-excluded from licensed gambling in South Africa. Ask your operator or the National Gambling Board about the exclusions register. More help and self-exclusion resources โ†’
