Privacy Policy
AIBets — aibets.co.za Version 1.0 · Last updated 29 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it. It is written to comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese — if anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.
1. Who is responsible for your information
The responsible party (POPIA's term for the organisation that decides what happens to your information) is:
Prize Drop (Pty) Ltd Registration number: K2025717109 Registered address: 2 Ncondo Place, Umhlanga Ridge, 4319
Information Officer: contactable at [email protected]. The Information Officer is identified by position, with full contact details, in our PAIA Manual at /paia/.
2. One company, many websites — read this bit
AIBets is one of a group of betting information websites operated by Prize Drop (Pty) Ltd. The complete list is published at https://freesupertips.co.za/our-sites.
Two things follow from that, and we would rather you learn them here than be surprised later:
- One account works everywhere. When you register on aibets.co.za, you are registering with Prize Drop (Pty) Ltd. Your account lives in one shared database and gives you access across every site in the group. You do not have separate accounts per brand, and we do not keep separate records per brand.
- Our emails come from one place. If you opt in to marketing, messages are sent from freesupertips.co.za, whichever site you signed up on. We do this so you get one unsubscribe that actually works across everything, instead of having to opt out 43 times. Every message identifies which brand it relates to.
If you would rather only hear about AIBets, you can set that in your preferences at members.freesupertips.co.za.
3. What we collect
When you just browse — no account needed:
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| IP address, browser and device type, operating system | Security, fraud prevention, making the site work on your device |
| Pages viewed, time on page, referring site | Understanding what content is useful |
| Cookie and similar identifiers | See our Cookie Notice at /cookies |
| Approximate location (country/region, from IP) | Showing you operators licensed where you are |
When you create a member account:
| Information | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Your login, and delivering the content you asked for | Yes |
| Password (stored hashed, never in readable form) | Securing your account | Yes |
| WhatsApp number | Delivering tips by WhatsApp, if you chose that | No |
| Which site you signed up on | So we know where you came from | Collected automatically |
| Confirmation you are 18+ | Legal requirement | Yes |
| Your marketing choices, and the exact wording you agreed to | Proving we had your permission | Collected automatically |
| Content preferences (sports, frequency) | Sending you less of what you don't want | No |
When we send you email: whether you opened it and which links you clicked. This tells us what is worth sending. You can turn this off in your preferences.
When you click through to an operator: the fact of the click, and an anonymous tracking ID. See section 5.
We do not collect: your identity number, your bank or card details, your betting history, or your account balance with any operator. We never see those. We have no reason to and no way to.
4. Why we use it, and on what legal basis
POPIA requires us to have a proper justification for each use. Ours:
| What we do | Justification under POPIA |
|---|---|
| Create and run your account | Necessary to perform our agreement with you (s11(1)(b)) |
| Send you the predictions and content you signed up for | Necessary to perform our agreement with you |
| Send you marketing, including operator promotions | Your consent (s11(1)(a), s69) — and only if you ticked the box |
| Keep the site secure, prevent fraud and abuse | Our legitimate interests (s11(1)(f)) |
| Understand how the site is used, improve content | Our legitimate interests (s11(1)(f)) |
| Verify you are 18 or older | Compliance with a legal obligation (s11(1)(c)) |
| Keep records of consent | Compliance with a legal obligation |
Marketing consent is optional and always has been separable from your account. You can use AIBets, hold a free member account, and receive the content you asked for without ever agreeing to marketing. We will not withhold the service to force a yes.
5. Betting operators — what they get, and what they don't
This is the part most affiliate sites are vague about, so we will be specific.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not give betting operators your email address, your phone number or your name.
What actually happens:
- When you click one of our links, you go to the operator's website. Your browser sends them an anonymous tracking code that tells them the visit came from us, so we get paid. That code does not contain your name, email or phone number.
- If you then open an account with that operator, you give them your details directly, on their site, under their privacy policy — not ours. They may tell us that a signup happened and attribute it to our tracking code, so that we can be paid. That report does not identify you to us by name.
- We may send you promotions for operators, by email or WhatsApp, if you opted in. Those messages come from us, to our own list. The operator does not receive your contact details in order for us to do this. Every such message says clearly that it is a promotion and who it is for.
⚠️ If this ever changes — if we begin sending your details to an operator directly — we will not do it under this policy. We would come back and ask you for a fresh, specific permission naming the operator concerned. Buried consent is not consent.
6. Who else sees your information
We use service providers ("operators" in POPIA's terminology, "processors" in ordinary language) to run the service. They act on our instructions under written agreements, and may not use your information for their own purposes.
One of them is a company in our own group, which operates the email and platform infrastructure behind these sites. Prize Drop (Pty) Ltd remains the responsible party for your information and remains accountable to you for it — using a sister company to run the systems does not move that responsibility, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
| Category of recipient | What they do | Where they process it |
|---|---|---|
| A company in our group | Runs the email and platform infrastructure on our instruction, and holds some of the affiliate agreements with betting operators | South Africa |
| Database hosting | Stores the member database | Ireland and the United Kingdom |
| Email delivery | Sends the email you asked for | South Africa (Cape Town) |
| Web and application hosting | Runs the sites | Germany |
| Content delivery, DNS, bot and DDoS protection | Keeps the sites fast and defended | Global network, including South Africa |
| WhatsApp / Meta Platforms | Delivers WhatsApp messages — only if you chose that channel | Global |
We describe these by category rather than naming each supplier, because a public, itemised list of the systems holding your information is useful to people trying to attack them. If you want to know which specific companies process your information, ask us at [email protected] and we will tell you. We will not refuse that question.
WhatsApp / Meta Platforms is named because choosing the WhatsApp channel means choosing to route your phone number through Meta, and that is your decision to make rather than a technical detail.
We will also disclose information where the law requires it — a court order, a regulator's lawful request, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
If the business is ever sold or restructured, member information may transfer to the buyer. We would tell you before that happened, and the buyer would be bound by this policy until you were given the chance to object.
7. Your information leaves South Africa
You should know this, and we would rather say it plainly than bury it.
Email to you is sent from within South Africa. Our member database is hosted outside South Africa — in Ireland and the United Kingdom — and our web hosting is in Germany. Our content delivery provider and WhatsApp operate global networks.
POPIA section 72 permits this. In our case it is lawful because:
- Ireland and Germany are in the European Union and the United Kingdom has UK GDPR — all subject to data protection laws that provide a level of protection substantially similar to POPIA's, which is the test in section 72(1)(a); and
- our contracts with these providers impose data protection obligations on them, which is the separate ground in section 72(1)(a)'s reference to binding agreements.
If we move a provider to a country without comparable protection, we will update this policy and tell you before the move.
8. How long we keep it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Member account | While your account is open, then 12 months after you close it or after 24 months of complete inactivity |
| Consent records (what you agreed to and when) | 5 years after the consent ends — we need this to prove we had permission |
| Unsubscribe / suppression list | Indefinitely — this is the only way to guarantee we never email you again |
| Email engagement data | 24 months |
| Web analytics and server logs | 12 months |
When a retention period ends we delete the information or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.
Note on the suppression list: when you unsubscribe we keep a record of your email address specifically so that we do not accidentally add you back. Deleting it entirely would defeat the purpose. If you want it gone as well, ask us and we will explain the trade-off.
9. Security
- All traffic to our sites is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Passwords are stored as hashes. We cannot see your password, and neither can anyone who steals the database.
- Database access is restricted and logged.
- Database queries are parameterised against injection attacks.
- Access to member data is limited to staff who need it.
No system is perfectly secure and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of harm to you, POPIA section 22 requires us to notify both you and the Information Regulator, and we will.
10. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- Know what we hold about you, and get a copy
- Correct anything wrong, or complete anything missing
- Delete information we no longer have grounds to keep
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, on reasonable grounds
- Withdraw consent for marketing at any time — see section 11
- Not be subject to a decision made purely automatically that significantly affects you. For clarity: our prediction model is automated, but it does not make decisions about you. It predicts football results.
- Complain to the Information Regulator — see section 12
To exercise any of these: email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. Most of it you can also do yourself at members.freesupertips.co.za.
Access requests are handled under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000. There is no charge for asking to see your own information; a copying fee may apply to large requests, and we will tell you the amount before doing the work.
11. Marketing, and how to stop it
We send marketing only if you ticked the box. Section 69 of POPIA does not permit us to do otherwise.
If you opted in, you may receive: daily and weekly predictions, pool sheets, site news, and promotional offers relating to betting operators we have a commercial relationship with. Delivery is by email and, if you gave us a number and chose it, WhatsApp.
To stop:
- Email — click unsubscribe at the bottom of any message. One click, no login, no questions.
- WhatsApp — reply STOP.
- Everything at once — members.freesupertips.co.za, or email [email protected].
- Fine-grained — you can turn off promotions but keep predictions, or reduce frequency, in your preferences.
We action unsubscribes immediately. If a message that was already queued reaches you within a few minutes of unsubscribing, that is why — it will be the last one.
Stopping marketing does not close your account or affect your access to the site.
You may also register on the Consumer Protection Act opt-out registry maintained by the National Consumer Commission, which blocks unsolicited direct marketing generally.
12. Complaints
Tell us first — [email protected]. We would rather fix it.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to:
The Information Regulator (South Africa) Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg, 2191 Complaints: [email protected] Enquiries: [email protected] Tel: 010 023 5200 · Toll free: 0800 017 160 inforegulator.org.za
You do not need our permission to complain, and complaining will not affect your account.
13. Children
This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have, we delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has registered, contact [email protected] and we will remove the account immediately.
14. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email registered members before it takes effect, and — where the change concerns how we use your information for marketing — we will ask for your consent again rather than assume it carries over.
Changing an individual supplier within the same category and country is not a material change and will not trigger a new version of this policy. Changing the category of provider, the country your information is processed in, or the level of protection it has there is material, and you will hear from us before it takes effect.
The version number and date at the top tell you which version you are reading. Previous versions are available on request.
